ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Deatrice is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and writer. She is a lover of books, a wine enthusiast, and a good 'ole southern girl. Jazz, R&B, classical, and gospel tunes make up her music playlist. Avid reader, world traveller, and shoe shopaholic are favored terms to describe her.

Born the middle child, Deatrice was raised in rural St. James Parish, Louisiana. She dreamed to see the world with a different, yet adaptable lens. When asked, she tells you her journey is evolving “into more than she ever thought or asked” (Eph. 3:20a).

Taking full advantage of her odds and obstacles, experiences and endeavors, Deatrice pours all efforts into her life-long passion to inspire, encourage, and uplift others. She has an insatiable desire to give back to underserved communities.

An unstoppable force for good is what she aims to be. You can find her tutoring youth on Saturday mornings or sleeping on the Atlanta sidewalks to help combat youth homelessness. Her tallest aspiration is to establish an inner-city youth development center catering to math, science, and the arts. It's a dream she surely believes will come to pass.

Deatrice’s love of reading began as a young girl. She spent her summers on the Bookmobile. In rural Louisiana, a mobile library drove through the community weekly, parking in central locations. Reading was her way of exploring the world. Envisioning herself in a scene fueled her imagination.

She now steps into the path of storytelling. Deatrice penned her first novel—Blind Justice. She couldn't be more eager and excited!
